AKPABU COMMUNITY IS GRATEFUL TO EMOHUA LGA — CHIDI LLOYD

I KNEW THAT CHIDI LLOYD WAS GOING TO SURPRISE US — JUSTINA EMEJI

EMOLGA PDP LEADERSHIP DIDN’T MAKE ANY MISTAKE IN CHIDI LLOYD; HE IS MAKING US PROUD, SAYS SAM OGEH

A few years after returning from the Rivers State House of Assembly, where he had served the constituency for three terms in a row, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, the chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, expressed gratitude to the locals on Thursday for considering him deserving of leading the local government council.

He said the people of Akpabu community, his home town, and the entire ward 10 in the LGA sincerely appreciate the support extended to them by other parts of the LGA, for the opportunity to occupy such strategic leadership positions in the LGA.

Dr. Lloyd spoke at two separate events, marking the inauguration of a 30,000-litre Braithwaite Water Scheme and the Solar Street Light Project executed in Akpabu community by the Emohua local government under his watch.

He said, “I think the right thing to do is to say thank you to Emohua local government area. We’re grateful to other parts of the local government area for supporting us each time we’re allowed to occupy leadership positions.

“I was in the assembly representing you from 2003 to 2015, and today I’m serving as your council chairman. We’re indeed grateful.

“If we are to go by the votes from Akpabu community, we won’t be having these opportunities, so I thank our leaders for the privilege, and I think the only thing we owe you is to continue to say thank you.”.

Dr. Lloyd thanked God for the enablement to utilize every position he has held for the advancement of his community and Emohua local government area in general.

He noted that the water project became necessary following the pollution of the community’s river, which previously served as their only source of drinking water.

He also noted that the solar street light project was conceived to improve the security of lives and properties in the area, stressing that the completion of the project had greatly impacted the socioeconomic lives of residents of the community.

He thanked the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Emohua LGA for providing him with the platform to attract meaningful projects to his community.

The Emohua Council boss was most grateful to thank the immediate past Rivers State Governor and FCT Minister, H.E. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, for approving his return to the party to reconcile and reconnect with his friends, which gave room for his nomination to fly the flag of the party in the last local government election.

The member representing Emohua State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Justina Emeji, who performed the commissioning of the Akpabu Braithwaite Water Scheme, in her brief remark congratulated Dr. Chidi Lloyd on his sterling performance, stressing that she already knew that the council chairman was going to surprise the people of the area, following his track record in the state assembly.

“I knew that Chidi Lloyd was going to surprise us from the first day we started his campaign. There’s no ward we visited that didn’t have the legacy of Dr. Chidi Lloyd while he served in the Assembly.

“This is the reason why, when I was asked to go to the assembly, I asked myself what I was going to do because there’s no ward in Emohua LGA where you will not see what Chidi Lloyd has done as an assembly member.”

She also commended Dr. Lloyd for the total transformation of the local government council headquarters, as conceptualized and undertaken by his administration, and encouraged him to pay less attention to his armchair critics.

“As I was passing, I was looking at Emohua Local Government Council headquarters. I said, Is this our council? So, when I hear people attacking Chidi Lloyd on the radio, I just laugh because they don’t know what God has done for us.

“You can see what is happening in the state today; if Nyesom Wike hadn’t put anything on the ground, nobody would even believe that he has ever been the Governor of Rivers State. So, you will always have my support because you’re doing well for our people.”.

She noted the importance of portable water to women and their families while commending Dr. Lloyd for alleviating the suffering of his people through the provision of the Akpabu water scheme.

“Water is important to women, and every family needs water. No woman will be happy in a home that has no portable water. So, I thank you for providing portable water for your community.”.

Commenting on the politics of Rivers State, Justina Emeji promised never to disappoint the people of Emohua constituency, while urging everyone to remain peaceful and patient, stressing that the future holds a lot for the people.

“I want to assure you that I will not disappoint you; even if I’m the only one remaining, I will remain there.

“I have been in the system for some time and must tell you that everything will be fine at the appropriate time.

“When things happen like this, you just have to remain where you are, so that you don’t join the wrong side and begin to regret tomorrow.

“Our chairman is here, and our leaders are here; don’t let anyone deceive you.

In his remarks before commissioning the Akpabu Solar Street Light project, the immediate past representative of Emohua constituency in the state assembly, Hon. Sam Ogeh, asserted that the leadership of the PDP in Emohua LGA never made any mistakes in their choice of Dr. Lloyd for the chairmanship position, stressing that Dr. Lloyd has made the people proud with his sterling performance.

“The leadership of our party didn’t make any mistake when we chose Chidi Lloyd; it didn’t take us time to arrive at Chidi Lloyd as the option for the chairmanship position.

“From what we’re seeing today, I’m very convinced that we didn’t make any mistake; he is indeed a better option

His chairmanship is not a disaster, his chairmanship is not a disgrace to our people, he is making us proud, and all of us are happy.

“I thank the leadership of PDP for finding him worthy, and I thank him for not disappointing the electorate who voted him into office.

Barr Sam Ogeh commended the council chairman for identifying the priorities of his community and using every position he has held to attend to them, stressing that every community and area has their own peculiar needs while noting the importance of solar street lights to the security and development of the community.

The paramount ruler of Akpabu/Itu communities, HRH Eze G.C. Ordu, who spoke on behalf of Akpabu community thanked Dr. Lloyd for using every opportunity available to him to attract government presence to the community for the overall development of the area.

He said the community will continue to stand by the council and everything he believes, in reciprocation of his untiring desire for the development of the community.

Describing the projects, the honourable supervisor of works, Hon. Ikpo Solomon, said the Akpabu water project was conceived to ameliorate the difficulty faced by residents of the area in terms of portable water.

He disclosed that the water pumping machine is automatically powered by solar energy.

He also highlighted the importance of the solar street light project to the improved security in the area while commending the council chairman for his visionary leadership and exceptional achievements.

The events attracted the presence of the Emohua LGA PDP caucus under the leadership of Eze Paul Wokhe Wonodi; members of Emohua legislative assembly under the leadership of Hon. Love Nyesom, principal officers of the Emohua local government council and heads of security agencies, as well as chiefs, elders, youths, and women of the Akpabu community who turned out in their numbers to celebrate and appreciate Dr. Lloyd for his unending love for the community.

Dr. Lloyd was accompanied by his wife, Lady Divine Adanma Chidi-Lloyd.

Earlier, Dr. Lloyd and the guests paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the paramount ruler of Akpabu/Itu, HRM Eze G.C. Ordu.
